What is this ?

What is it ?

| "Botulinum
toxin injections have been used
since 1980 with great success
to treat a number of medical conditions
in ophthalmology to treat infant
strabism and in neurology to treat
strained or trembling muscles.
Noticed by chance to reduce the
wrinkles under the eye when being
used to treat eyelid spasming,
Botox use has become firmly entrenched
in aesthetic medicine. The doses
are infinitely small and harmless
for the organism and the muscles
treated." |
How does it work ?

| "Most
of the faces lines and wrinkles
come from our expressions, caused
by our facial muscles. With time,
these deepen and become permanent.
Botulic toxin is directly injected
into the muscle, which then cannot
move. The lines and wrinkles,
being unable to form, gradually
smooth out and even disappear
after several séances. This effect
is reversible after 3-6 months." |
What sort of results can I
expect ?

| "There
will be visible results after
about five days, becoming optimal
after three weeks. We obtain muscle
relaxation in the treated areas
such as the forehead, the lines
between the eyebrows or around
the eyes. Wrinkles and lines diminish
then disappear whether the face
is at rest or moving, without
changing the expression. The eyes
look bigger and the face is relaxed
and looks more rested. Also, some
migraine sufferers report a complete

treatment is practically painless,
as the needles are extremely fine
because of the tiny amounts we

What side-effects might there
be ?

are only rare transitory side-effects
: bruising, possibly a loss of
sensation or tense feelings or
a feeling of having thick skin
in the treated areas, lasting
a few days." |
What precautions should I
take after the treatment ?

| "You
might find a little swelling immediately
after the treatment lasting 30
minutes at most. You can carry
on with life immediately, simply
being careful of manipulating
your face or having massages there
for 24 hours." |
How often should I have these
injections ?
|
| "You
should have these done every four
to seven months to get a stable
result. As from the second injection,
results may last up to six months;
what you should avoid is repeating
them at three months, as this
will create resistance. You will
possibly find some stability after
three sessions but in some cases
you will need to have between
eight and ten sessions to get
at least a more certain stability.
If you stop the injections, the
muscle will regain its old activity." |
At what age should I begin
?
