Cruroplasty or thigh lift
" Slimmer shapelier thighs "
|
|
|
 |

Rather than a long text,
we thought we would answer
the most commonly-asked
questions as concretely
and objectively as possible.
Dr Frederic Sarfati answers
your questions
Ex Head of Clinic, Hospitals
of Paris
Fellow of the Endoscopic
Plastic Surgery Center Baltimore,

I) Before treatment
Back
|
1. Why would I have a thigh lift ?
|
|
« If the skin on your inside thigh is less elastic after a
weight change or if you
have stretch marks, excess
skin or fat. »
|
2. How
do you find out what my
needs are ?
|
|
« Before treatment, we discuss what would be suitable. We use both recent
and older photos and remorph
them so I can advise you
on how we get a nice natural-looking
result that fits with your
figure. » |
3.
Will a thigh lift make my figure look younger ? |
|
« A thigh lift combined with liposuction on the inner thighs and knees will
give you more youthful
looking, shapelier legs;
the firming effect not
only smoothing but tightening
your skin so your thighs
no longer touch while
walking. »
|
4.
How
will you get natural-looking
results ? |
|
« There are two ways we get a natural looking thigh lift, firstly by situating
the scar discreetly in
the natural groove between
body and thigh; secondly
by combining liposuction
with skin reduction to
remove flabbiness, ensuring
smooth results. »
|
5.
Do I need a medical examination before treatment ?
|
|
« During
your preparatory consultation
with the anaesthetist
or the surgeon, we would
ask you for the results
of a general medical examination
to spot any medical contraindications.
You should take no aspirin
or anti inflammatory medicines
for ten days prior to
your visit. »

II ) During treatment :
Back
|
6.
How
long do I stay at the clinic ? |
|
« Hospitalisation is from 24 to 48 hours
for this type of procedure.
»
|
7.
How long will the treatment last ? |
|
« The
treatment lasts about
one and a half hours.
»
|
8.
What
kind of anaesthetic do you
recommend ? |
|
« A light epidural or a general
anaesthetic is needed
for this type of procedure,
once again, depending
on how much work is to
be done. »
|
9.
What
happens during the treatment ? |
|
« Firstly we carry out liposuction, using
a very fine ¾ mm tube
to get regular results
all across the interior
of the thighs. Then we
remove a 2 - 10 cm band
of skin from the top of
the inside thighs, stretch
the thigh skin up to its
new position, then secure
it in place, deep stitching
it to the muscles all
up the inside thigh. Sutures
are made in the thigh/body
crease and drains attached.
»
|
10.
Will we see any scars ? |
|
« The very fine discreet scar is hidden
in the bikini area, running
along the side of the
pubis, disappearing down
the body/thigh crease,
then along the buttock
crease. »
|
11.
What will the risks be ? |
|
« We take all active measures
before, during and after
the treatment to reduce
risks to the minimum,
namely of haematoma and
infection. We prescribe
antibiotics from two days
before to seven days after
treatment and carry out
all preventive measures
during treatment.
Particular care has to
be taken with fuller-bodied
patients or with those
with sequels of obesity
or heavy tobacco use.
Sensitivity in the area
may be modified temporarily.
Any risks associated with
the anaesthetic will be
clarified during pre-treatment
interviews. »
|
12.
What risks of phlebitis (deep vein thrombosis)
are there ?
|
|
« There is a very low risk
of phlebitis for this
type of treatment. It
consists of a blood clot
appearing in the deep
veins of the leg, which
can detach and move to
the lungs, causing a lung
embolism. We can effectively
deal with this risk using
anti-coagulants and support
stockings during your
whole stay. During the
treatment, we also do
leg massages. So far,
we have had no cases of
phlebitis at all. »

|
III )
After treatment
:
Back

|
13.
Will it be painful ?
|
|
« This
is moderately painful
treatment, rated at 3.5
on a scale of 0-10 by
patients. Your inside
thighs may well feel strange
with tingling sensations,
which will disappear after
a period of three to four
months. »
|
14.
How quickly will I see the results ?
|
|
« You
will see most of the results
(70% reduction) immediately
and residual swelling
will disappear after about
three months. »
|
15. How often will I have to come back ?
|
|
« You will have a check up after 10 days,
then three weeks, then
every six months. Of course
you can make an appointment
at any other time too.
»
|
16.
What
do you do to protect the
treatment zone ? will I
have to wear bandages ? |
|
« You
will only have to wear
an elastic panty for 10
days to two weeks. »
|
17.
What care should I take afterwards ?
|
|
« The only treatment you will need
are antibiotics for five
days after leaving the
clinic and normal painkillers.
You will be able to shower
as soon as you get home. »
|
18.
How
soon can I start work again ? |
|
« You
can start work after four
days if you have a sedentary
job, although if you have
any journeys to make in
your car or by foot you
should wait for ten days
and only then start gradually. »
|
19.
Should
I avoid physical activity ?
|
|
« You
should not do even the
gentlest sport at all
for a six week period,
and you should make no
wide leg movements either.
The best way to start
physical activity again
is swimming. »
|
20. Is
this treatment reimbursable
on my health insurance ? |
|
« You
will have to consult your
local health authorities
and your private health
insurers to see if you
can be supported financially
following a serious illness
or congenital deformation,
for example. »
